Meet the first African American Stewardess hired by Delta Air Lines in1966 ! In all of the stories about aviation and its history, the stories of the first African American stewardesses have been left untold and unknown.  We first took to the skies when flying was glamorous and exclusive and little girls dreamt of being stewadesses, models, or movie stars. We rubbed elbows with the elite and we traveled the world when few others could.  We flew as pioneers in a global society long before the time of the Internet and globalization.  We also kept our heads high facing down racial prejudice and discrimination.  We lived as Stars in the Sky  Patricia Grace Murphy was the first African American Stewardess to break the color barrier for Delta Air Lines. Pat's stories and other pioneers in aviation  are featured in my book Stars in the Sky which will be released in November. Visit the archives to hear the show and listen to my call in guest Terry Taylor another African American Stewardess featured in my book, exchange stories with Pat about the early years of flying.  We were also honored to have Pat's first supervisior, June Huerman share some stories about those turbulent days and assisting Pat with her new life in aviation.    Please listen each week for updates on my book,  or visit my website www.theflygirl10.com Thank you Casey Grant
